Happy New Year! Here's to a 2016 filled with pretty colors, plenty of smiles, and some of the best darn smelling soap around!
First a big ole THANK YOU for shopping local at High Street Soap this holiday season! We are busy, busy creating new soaps for you and can't wait to show you what we have up our soapmaker sleeve :)
Today I got a delivery of the most beautiful mica colors! What are micas? If you've used eye liner, eye shadow, mascara, or lipstick then you've used micas. Mineral make up? It's in that too!
Micas are naturally occurring minerals and its earliest use has been found in cave paintings as old as 10,000 BC. It was also used by Native Americans to make pottery. When micas are ground for cosmetic use it maintains a brilliant shine. Micas are mixed with other natural colors to produce glorious hues, naturally!
These particular micas are cruelty-free, vegan, and dye-free. Most artificial dyes (you know, those FD&C numbers) are made from petroleum coal tar and have a nasty reputation for not being the best for ya. A google search will show you what I mean. I never use dyes in High Street Soap products. There's no reason to when I have kick ass rainbows like this delivered to my door.
It's a crazy sparkly rainbow - something you'd see on a cracked out Edward Cullen. I can't wait to whip these into some batches of soap and show you how they come out! While these colors may look gorgeous I can totes tell you that the soap I make with them will smell even better. When you need something to make you smile or put some pep in your step, I'll be blending together the exclusive fragrances you need to transform your mood! It’s one of my most favorite things to do for you...besides making outdated Twilight references.
Stay tuned :)
